It recently dawned on me that after working with hundreds of singing students over the course of 16 years many of them don't have lessons to become better singers (although that's the trigger), they have lessons to become more of themselves. In the stretching of comfort zones, the investigation of voice qualities (some quite comical), the exploring of melodies and emotional depths, you discover what you're made of.... you grow.
it made me think about how important it is to get away from the computer and into the real world, interacting with real people and learning a new skill or going deeper with an already existing one. None of us need more stuff, what we do need is to explore our inner being, in order to feel fulfilment, satisfaction, face challenges and learn to overcome them. We can then synthesise this behavioural intelligence into other areas of our lives. That's what truly makes us happy.
